What is eCore®?

eCore comprises the first two years of college core courses completely online. eCore was developed by the University System of Georgia.

SPSU is one of the six Affiliates of this program. We act as a home base for eCore students. The structure and content of the program is governed by The Board of Regents (BOR), and SPSU is an administrator. All eCore general advisement and registration is managed through SPSU's Extended University (EU).

This site explains how SPSU administers the program on campus, provides step-by-step procedures for all elements of eCore participation, and provides links to the BOR site for convenience of students. The BOR site is the last word on eCore policy; your SPSU eCore site details how to participate in the program on this campus.

You will find yourself going back and forth between the two eCore sites for the most complete and up-to-date information about this exciting program.

How to use this site:

  1. The many resources at this site can be accessed through their links. If the link is to an external source - a PDF or Word document, or another website, for example, the link will open in a new window. All internal site links will open in the same window.
  2. The Board of Regents (BOR) eCore web site is the official web site for eCore. Everything on that web site — the rules, regulations, costs, time tables, procedures — forms the official policy for all eCore activities. Students are responsible for knowing this information.
  3. There are five main areas to the BOR site:
    1. About eCore + links
    2. Benefits + links
    3. Getting Started + links
    4. Courses + links
    5. Is eCore Right for Me?
  4. We strongly recommend that you go through the entire BOR web site first, read, print, make notes.
  5. After you have familiarized yourself with the BOR eCore site, you will want to come back here to the SPSU eCore site for specifics that apply only to SPSU eCore students.
    1. Academic Calendar — gives the dates for each semester from the BOR and from SPSU web sites since there are some differences. Note that SPSU does not change the eCore official dates in any way, but may give SPSU students additional registration time.
    2. Costs — gives a thorough breakdown of real and estimated costs (books can only be estimated) for SPSU students. You should read this page carefully.
    3. Policies — This page combines the BOR policies and the SPSU policies that affect your eCore career. PRINT THIS PAGE for future reference.
    4. Apply, Register, Drop and Withdraw — This is a combination of the policies from eCore and SPSU. Students are responsible for knowing these policies.
    5. Technical Support — This page builds on the technical support page on the BOR site and offers a few additional support resources for SPSU students.
    6. Proctored Tests — This explains the general policy and costs regarding proctored exams and how it is applied at SPSU. If you wish to have an exam proctored at another site, you will also find information on how to apply.
